No Wonder They Call Him Savior by Max Lucado

No Wonder They Call Him the Savior by Max Lucado proved to be a good book. Max Lucado writes in a way that is easy to follow and not hard to understand. He does this to an extent to where I believe it demeans his writing in a manner, but it also makes it very accessible to many reading levels. The book is filled with short stories and perspectives that bring the mind to imagine what everyone at the crucifixion must have felt and their perspective on it. It then goes through describing the importance of salvation is what that means and the different forms of it. This book makes the passion, crucifixion and resurrection a vivid imaginary in the mind and brings it's power to light in an easy way to follow. In the simple way Max Lucado writes, he has found a way to powerfully express many ideas. This is an all around good Christian book to read and I would suggest it to others. It entails fictional viewpoints of first hand accounts that allow the reader to have an insight that maybe might have a great effect on them. Ascent from Darkness by Michael Leehan

This very intriguing book is a true story of Michael Leehan's struggle with the evil side and his conversion to the Jesus. He was a solider of the devil and would cut himself and do sacrifices. These practices and praying with Satan keep him astray. It is an informative book that keeps one remembering that satan is the biggest liar and one of his ultimate tricks is to keep believers in Christ and non-believers alike believing satan is not real. This reality of hell should be an eye opener into the ever present spiritual battle around us. Michael evens shows us how the devil takes the fight right to us by having false brothers try to make us sin and forget about God, and by causing friction in our church groups. Michael's ultimate mission from satan was to kill a pastor. God felt otherwise and the story of Michael transforming from a solider of evil to being a champion of Christ is truely an eye opener. This book was a good read and a quick read. For this being his first book Michael writes in a very gifted way. The Grace of God

It has been a while since I have left a review and my reviews have been growing further apart (due to my busy schedule!) but I had some down time this weekend and tired getting this book read as soon as possible which did not turn out to be hard. The Grace of God by Andy Stanley turned out to be a great read! The author of this book, Andy Stanley, is the pastor at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, GA which is a large church and the church my Aunt goes to. I have not been to this church and have only heard things about it and Andy so I was glad to get the chance to read this book.

The Grace of God is a book I will probably start to recommend. In the open pages the author tells us that grace is something that is not earned, and if you think you earned it you don't know what grace is, that grace is for everyone, and that grace is the factor that determines us as Christians. "Grace is not earned; it is offered." is how Andy illustrates grace. Through his clear and easy to follow examples of grace through the bible (using biblical characters) we can see grace like we have not before. This book is for the person that needs a better understanding of grace, how it applies to our lives, and how to use grace in our Christian lives.

Has God Spoken?

Hank HaneGraaff has written a very intellectual book on the evidence of God existing. From the very beginning he begins to write how every religion believes they are right in some way. He disproves common Mormon ideology and then he disproves common Muslim beliefs. I will have to do some research to see if the verses in their holy books that he used for examples were taken out of context or not, but still, how interesting that this is done in the first few pages. He then proceeds to quote president Obama and disproves what he says about what the bible teaches. These daring first steps are followed by interesting and intellectual context. The history throughout this book is put in a very readable way and it made it a fun read. I have already used what I have read in this book in discussions (not mentioning the resource in which I received the information until asked, that way the information seems to be prior knowledge and it adds to my intelligence, ha). I was interested to see how the author would taken factual items and findings and prove that not only is God real but the bible is truly the only real HOLY book.  The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book or advanced reading copy through BookSneeze®

Has God Spoken?

My next book to review and I am anticipating it greatly!

Stumbling into Grace

Stumbling Into Grace: Confessions of a Sometimes Spiritually Clumsy Woman by Lisa Harper proved to be an interesting read. I knew before reading this book that the general attended audience for this piece would be the teenage through the elder woman. Yet I took the step and read it (thinking maybe it would give me insight of my soon to be wife's spirituality). The beginning of the book runs true to the tone of the book, when Lisa describes a funny Doctor visit with a serious conclusion. Lisa writes in such a down to earth, easy to follow way that this book makes a great read. She offers present day parallelisms between her life and scripture. It is great to see scripture brought into light by present day descriptions and allusions. As I mentioned before it was a step for me to read this female orientated book. There were many things all sexes could draw from this book, but I struggled with some of the stories and found that I just could not relate. The humor through this book and its scriptural premise is what got me through though. I would recommend this book to other female friends of mine and I will be giving my copy to my soon to be wife. Review of a Rumors Of God

The book, Rumors Of God, by Darren Whitehead and Jon Tyson was a great read. This book shows us through detailed and encouraging stories how we as humans have deluded God's message in scripture and have forgotten his promises. But we are awaken when these authors confirm that the 'rumors' we have heard about God and his grace and promises are true! The authors do a great job to confront postmodernism beliefs, but are times are a bit tolerant. The book is an easy read than can be at times redundant or disorganized. I was surprised on the authors scriptural perspective on sin, and their call to realize our sin, as some of the mega churches out there shy away from this issue to keep their numbers up (tell the people what they want to hear). It was a great read and I would recommend this awakening read. My favorite part was the story about God's grace.
